Red Sky Legal was established by a top-notch paralegal with a commitment to making the legal system accessible and easy to navigate. We provide affordable, quality legal document services to small businesses and individuals handling their own legal matters without a lawyer. Our self-help legal services are concentrated primarily in the areas of business entity formation and management, estate planning and administration, real property transfers, civil litigation and construction law. Red Sky Legal is a bonded and registered legal document assistant (LDA), as required under California law. Our paralegal services are offered to solo attorneys and small firms with specific, project-based needs.

Professional Profile of Suzanne Bowlby Ervine

Suzanne Bowlby Ervine, founder of Red Sky Legal, is a leader in the “self-help legal” movement, with specialized expertise in assisting self-represented parties as they make their way through the courts and governmental agencies. Prior to establishing her LDA practice, Suzanne worked as a paralegal in both law firm and corporate environments. She is a commissioned Notary Public.

Suzanne currently serves as President of the Alliance of Legal Document Assistant Professionals, a statewide organization dedicated to protecting consumers and ensuring the integrity of the legal document preparation profession. In 2009, she wrote the Legal Document Assistant’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and co-authored the LDA Client’s Bill of Rights.

In 2009, Suzanne was instrumental in the legislative negotiations to modify California’s proposed AB 590, preserving the LDA profession and protecting the rights of consumers to choose from among a number of options to meet their self-help legal needs.

An avid writer, Suzanne has authored numerous self-help legal publications, and actively publishes several law-related blogs, including In Propria Persona, SCRIBE, and The Contractor’s Secret Weapon. She is also a contributor to Legal Tips & Commentary and Paralegal Gateway.
